With the release of his career-defining THE BLACK ALBUM in 2003, Jay-Z shocked his fans and the industry by announcing he was quitting the business. Having honed his rhyming skills in the tough Marcy Projects of Brooklyn, Jay-Z's story is a classic rags-to-riches tale. Although best known for his multi-million-dollar selling albums, the rap impresario has also dipped his toe into corporate waters. His record label, Roc-a-Fella, has proved highly lucrative, as has his clothing line, and an excursion into movie production. So when he relinquished his position at the top of the rap game, the inimitable performer decided to stage a flamboyant farewell gesture in the form of a special guest-laden concert at New York's prestigious Madison Square Garden. Directors Michael John Warren and Paul Paulson were given the task of catching the festivities on camera, and also managed to capture some candid snippets of the star as he prepared for the show. But it's when he hits the stage that the astonishing breadths of his talents are revealed. Making the cavernous venue seem intimate via some touching interplay with the audience, Jay-Z beckons a breathtaking list of hip-hop and R&B glitterati onto the stage. Among them are Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim, P. Diddy, R. Kelly, and Beyonce Knowles. The ecstatic crowd laps up the onstage action throughout, and are clearly delighted to be invited to one of the grandest parting shots in history. Merchant Ivory Productions collaborated with London Weekend Television in 1978 to create the film HULLABALOO OVER GEORGIE AND BONNIE'S PICTURES. In India, a young maharaja, Georgie (Victor Banerjee), and his sister, Bonnie (Aparna Sen), possess a collection of Indian miniature paintings rotting away in a storeroom of their palace. Dame Peggy Ashcroft stars as Lady Gee, a manipulative London art dealer who journeys to India in search of their set of priceless art. Competing with Lady Gee is another art collector, Clark Haven (Larry Pine). The two collectors try through manipulation, flirtation, and trickery to scam the artwork out of the maharaja's hands while the collection's curator (Saeed Jaffrey) works both sides against each other. BBC producer Melvyn Bragg approached Merchant Ivory Productions with the offer of making a film for London Weekend Television's THE SOUTH BANK SHOW, and, after its success on broadcast television, the movie was released as a feature film. The quiet, charming town of Mooseport, Maine is invaded by the former president of the country in this Capraesque comedy starring Ray Romano and Gene Hackman. Monroe The Eagle Cole (Gene Hackman) is a hugely popular Clinton-era former president, who retires to bucolic Mooseport, Maine after a bitter divorce from his wife (Christine Baranski). Coincidentally, Mooseport is in need of a new mayor and Cole steps in to what he thinks will be a one-man race and a much-needed publicity boost. However, local handyman and plumber Handy Harrison (Ray Romano) has entered the race as well, complicating the no-contest election. Handy is a beloved Mooseport local, well-liked but incapable of committing to his long-time girlfriend Sally Mannis (Maura Tierney). Sally has spent the last seven years waiting for Handy to propose and so, when a smitten Cole asks her out on a dinner date, she eagerly accepts in hopes of making Handy jealous. It works, turning the race into a personal and political rivalry as Handy fights not only the mayorship but also to regain Sally's heart.
