Weird Science Theater (DVD)
WEIRD SCIENCE THEATER presents a trio of sci-fi-influenced horror classics from the 1950s and'60s: in THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE (1962), a mad scientist searches for the perfect body for his fiancUe's severed head when he accidentally decapitates her in a car accident; in THE MANSTER (1959), an American reporter is transformed into a two-headed monster after being experimented upon by a Japanese scientist; and in THE HEAD (1959), a mad doctor invents a serum that keeps body parts alive.
Francesca Hatton, a WWI Red Cross volunteer, has always felt nothing but deep devotion to the grandfather who raised her and her five cousins. But after his death, Francesca begins to learn things which suggest that her grandfather was mixed up in some dark doings--including murder. As she examines her grandfather's murky past, Francesca's own life is jeopardized.
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY boasts an incredible cast, but it's Katharine Hepburn's picture in more ways than one. It's 1860, and Tracy Lord (Hepburn), a Philadelphia heiress, is about to marry coal-company executive George Kittridge (John Howard). The wedding, promising to be the season's premier event, attracts the attention of magazine publisher Sidney Kidd (Henry Daniell), who sees it as an opportunity to break a story. Spy magazine's Dexter Haven (Cary Grant), Lord's ex-husband, is enlisted to gain access to the party, along with top scandal writer Macauley Connor (James Stewart, in an Oscar-winning role). However, the reporter is quickly smitten by the bride's charms--and he's not the only one. The film, based on the play by Phillip Barry, was first a Broadway sensation starring Hepburn, who acquired the screen rights, claimed the starring role, and chose the director, screenwriter, and lead cast. In addition to fine work by Grant and Stewart, notable supporting performances are delivered by Ruth Hussey and Virginia Weidler. One of nine films Hepburn made with director George Cukor, it remains one of the classics of their collaboration and of American cinema.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Additional Release Material:

In his homage to Fellini's self-referential masterpiece, 8 1/2,
Woody Allen plays Sandy Bates, world-famous director of film comedies who wants desperately to make serious movies. At the invitation of a prominent critic, Bates travels to the Stardust Hotel in upstate New York in order to attend a retreat put together to honor his achievements as a filmmaker. What he encounters there is a circus-like atmosphere comprising cloyingly devoted fans, as grotesque as they are obsequious, all professing their unconditional love for Sandy while at the same time wondering aloud why he don't make'em like he used to. The crushed director finds a grim sort of solace in his affairs with three wildly different women. As the weekend ends, Bates finds himself bathed in the greasy light of self-recognition and haltingly discovers that he may be more repulsive than any of the adoring fans he so loathes.DVD FeaturesRegion 1Keep CaseAnamorphic Widescreen - 1.85Single Side - Single LayerAudio: Dolby Digital Mono - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Trailers - 1.
