Godzilla vs. Gigan (DVD)
Originally produced in 1972, this Godzilla film is among the best loved for its funny quirks and quintessential moments. Godzilla battles the chicken-headed space monster, Gigan, and a host of other evil alien creatures. The film's high point is a dynamic extended fight sequence between Godzilla, Gigan, Angurius, and King Ghidorah. All of the elements that have made Godzilla a favorite are here: actors dressed in rubber monster suits, stock film footage, and goofy characters that are an afterthought to the charismatic giant reptiles.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseWidescreen - 2.35Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - English Subtitles - English, French - Optional

Men in Black II (DVD)
Reuniting director Barry Sonnenfeld with most of the original hit film's cast, MEN IN BLACK II picks up with alien-monitoring secret agent Jay (Will Smith) in a rut. Weary of the isolated life of an MiB operative, Jay continually fires new partners until MiB director Zed (Rip Torn) teams him up with the talkative pug, Frank (voiced by Tim Blaney). Together they investigate an alien-on-alien murder witnessed by the lovely Rita (Rosario Dawson), who Jay immediately falls for. The case eventually leads Jay and Frank to track down agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones), who now works at a rural post office, completely unaware of his former life. Unfortunately, it's what Kay can't remember that may save the world from destruction at the hands of the shape-shifting alien Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle). As Jay attempts to jog the memory of the reluctant Kay, Serleena takes over MiB headquarters, building up to a big New York City showdown.A fast-paced follow-up to the 1997 sci-fi comedy, MEN IN BLACK II sticks to its guns, offering up more action, aliens, and intergalactic weirdness. This time around Smith and characters such as Frank and the wisecracking worms are the focus, although Jones makes the most out of his screen time with his deadpan persona thoroughly intact. And, as with the first movie, MIB II features plenty of enjoyable scenes, including an underground romp involving a subway-sized alien and Frank the Dog's head-out-of-the-car-window rendition of I Will Survive.

Underworld (DVD)
In UNDERWORLD, a dark and Gothic monster action movie, vampires and lycans--an ancient form of werewolf--are at war. While the vampires inhabit a gigantic castle that houses their ancestor`s tombs, the lycans live underground in a dilapidated sewer cave. Both teams are equipped with big guns, and they are constantly innovating deadlier bullets to gain advantage over each other. On the vampire side, the leather-clad death agent Selene (Kate Beckinsale) delegates teams of vamps to attack the lycans. But when she discovers that the lycans have kidnapped a human medical student, Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman), she knows the worst is on its way. Against the orders of her superior, Kraven (Shane Brolly), who is obsessively in love with Selene, she awakens the most powerful vampire of all time, Viktor (Bill Nighy) and prepares for a massive feud against lycan leader Lucian (Michael Sheen).Director Len Wiseman offers a tough, fast, and gory addition to the horror-fantasy genre with UNDERWORLD. Impressive special effects show the lycans transforming from humans to werewolves, and the lycans` ability to squeeze silver bullets out of their skin is also rudely fascinating. Beckinsale is captivating in the role of the lead vamp, with her leather corset, pouty expressions, and double-fisted pistols perfectly communicating the glam-action mood of the film.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse (DVD)
The lovely Milla Jovovitch is back with a vengeance as amnesiac, genetically-altered zombie ass-kicker, Alice, in this sequel to the 2002 hit film, which is based on the video game. This time around the sinister Umbrella Corporation sends a team of investigators into their destroyed underground lab (the ground-zero of carnage in the previous film) and unwittingly unleash the still-staggering zombies and monsters out into the population of Raccoon City. Soon Umbrella has evacuated all of their own key employees and has shut everyone else inside to be devoured. A mastermind chemist`s daughter gets left behind in the confusion, and she is the one ticket out for Alice and a handful of dwindling survivors, including the equally hot, skimpily dressed, and almost-as-tough lady cop, Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory). There`s some nifty motorcycle riding, plenty of bullets and splattering blood, and even a new monster--the hulking, heavily-armored, seriously ugly Nemesis. Comic actor Mike Epps is great as a pimped-out hustler who handles the whole dead-coming-back-to-life thing with cool nonchalance. In some ways, this nonstop creep show is even an improvement over the original, with a pervasive mood of nihilistic corporate dehumanization adding extra concern about the future of civilization to the mix of shooting, dying, punching, and munching.

The Magic Voyage of Sinbad/Day the Earth Froze (DVD)
THE MAGIC VOYAGE OF SINBAD: The American release title of the elaborate and immensely popular Russian fantasy SADKO, this version was recut and remastered by Francis Ford Coppola. Sadko is a young Gusli player who, after boasting at a feast that he can bring home to Novgorod the Bird of Happiness, or the mythical Phoenix, sets out to do just that despite his fellow merrymakers` disbelief. Aided in his quest by the daughter of the Ocean King, who is in love with his voice, he travels to many faraway lands including Egypt and India, but in the end he learns that he never really needed to stray from home to find happiness. Sadko`s value to society as an artist, his closeness with nature, kindness to the poor, and his loyalty to love and country, all reflect the idealized cultural values of the time, and the beautiful, extravagant mise-en-scene is breathtakingly gorgeous.THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE: An imported Russian-Finnish production that is a spectacular journey through a strange world, this bizarre, surreal fantasy was based on a Finnish fairy tale. It follows Lemminkainen, a blacksmith whose sister has been kidnapped by an evil witch; she wants to force our hero into making her a Sampo, a magic mill that produces gold, flour, and salt, and assures its owner wealth. The witch also steals the sun and freezes the world until her dark wishes are fulfilled.

Battle Beyond The Sun/ Star Pilot - Double Feature (DVD)
BATTLE BEYOND THE SUN: Francis Ford Coppola redirected a Russian sci-fi flick called NEBO ZOVYOT in this, his directorial debut. Produced by B-movie auteur Roger Corman, Coppola originally released this film under the pseudonym Thomas Colchart.STAR PILOT: Alternately known as 2 + 5: MISSIONE HYDRA, this low-budget classic of Italian horror follows a professor living on the island of Sardinia with his daughter, along with several assistants and a couple of Asian spies. Zontar the Thing From Venus/The Eye Creatures (DVD)
Two of sci-fi/horror master Larry Buchanan`s more famous works, ZONTAR, THING FROM VENUS and THE EYE CREATURES each exemplify the Texan director`s knack for telling extraordinary stories on almost nonexistent budgets. Buchanan`s films explored nuclear disasters, past lives, aliens, and more. The director often brought crowds to his films by casting known actors whose careers were settling down. Both films in this collection feed off the audience`s fear of things alien and unknown. In the extremely low-budget ZONTAR: THE THING FROM VENUS (1966)--a remake of Roger Corman`s IT CONQUERED THE WORLD--a well-meaning scientist (John Agar) aids a stranded alien and soon discovers the visitor`s nefarious plans for world domination. In THE EYE CREATURES, icky aliens who invade Planet Earth meet their match in the American teenager generation. The latter film features Filipino horror-film leading man John Ashley.

Hercules The Avenger/Hercules and the Black Pirate (DVD)
Muscle, action, and a healthy dose of camp went into both of these B-movie gems. Hercules (bodybuilder Reg Park) must save his son's soul from the evil Earth Goddess Gia in THE AVENGER. When he travels to the underworld, Gia's equally evil, psychopathic son Antaius assumes his identity as king. Antaius proceeds to wreak havoc upon the populace, methodically destroy the country, until Hercules returns to avenge his people. Then, in HERCULES AND THE BLACK PIRATE, things take a decidedly surreal turn when Hercules (this time played by Alan Steele) engages in a little time travel. Set in Elizabethan times, Hercules must battle the evil Rodrigo, advisor to the king, as well as the formidable Black Pirate himself; he also sets out to woo the governor's lovely daughter.DVD Features:Region (unknown)Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Mono - English
