Young, inexperienced Bhuvan drives a Hollywood tour bus and yearns to be a part of the movie-making industry. Recently arrived from his native India, he is obsessed with Delilah Leigh, a scream queen who hasn`t worked in over 25 years. Every day, Bhuvan drives past her house hoping for a glimpse, but the reclusive star remains invisible, until one day she makes a miraculous appearance on her porch. Looking as young and beautiful as ever, Delilah blows kisses at the tour bus, and Bhuvan is inspired to write a comeback film just for her. Showing up on Delilah`s doorstep, script in hand, Bhuvan is taken in by the beautiful star and her frumpy assistant, Delia. But these two are not exactly who they say they are, and by the time Bhuvan realizes that the assistant is the former star, and Delilah is really Delia`s gay son, he has become inescapably enmeshed in the lives of these two quirky characters. Murder, blackmail, and love are soon to follow, in this uproarious romp through a very unusual Hollywood.

In 1995, blind bluesman Paul Pena, who has played with Muddy Waters, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Jerry Garcia, and Merl Saunders and wrote the Steve Miller Band hit Jet Airliner, traveled to Tuva, a small land in Northern Mongolia, with a small film crew and radio DJ Mario Casetta. Pena had become fascinated with the Tuvan practice of harmonic throat singing, in which singers are able to make incredible, almost magical sounds flow from deep in their throats. Pena's tour of the country leads him to the 1995 Throat singing Competition and Symposium, in which he competes in the kargyaa section, and the crowd is thrilled to see an American blues musician throat singing and talking to them in the Tuvan language. Brothers Adrian and Roko Belic document the trip, alternating between scenes of Pena's experiences with the people and shots of the beautiful Tuvan landscape and culture, from lush fields, stunning mountains, and hot deserts to dancing, a form of sumo-like wrestling, and a brutal sheep slaughtering ceremony. This majestic film won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature at the 1999 Academy Awards as well as the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Carlos Saura has dedicated a good part of his career to bringing the diverse world of Spanish dance to an international audience. He is perhaps best known for the trilogy of CARMEN, BLOODWEDDING, and A LOVE BEWITCHED, taken from the works of Bizet and Garcia Lorca, but also for SEVILLANAS, which, like FLAMENCO, presents the talents of a variety of artists in a straightforward setting. The beautiful cinematography by Vittorio Storaro, who later shot the spectacular GOYA IN BORDEAUX for Saura, is the only element of the film that strays from its documentary feel. Using an old railroad station in Seville, fitted with mirrors, for the setting, Saura presents 300 singers, dancers and musicians. There are guitarists playing moving and mournful solos, women singing gypsy ballads and, of course, floor pounding, straight shouldered dancers who look right into the camera with those dark, smouldering, Spanish eyes. The clear star of the dance segments is the mesmerizing Joaquin Cortes. Doing what is deemed the New Flamenco style, Cortes combines elements of 18th century classical dance with more recent innovations.
His bare-chested Farruca push the erotic elements to the limit of the style and is certainly the high point of the film.
