Composed by Engelbert Humperdinck, this version of the classic fairy tale stars Brigitte Fassbaender as Hansel and Edita Gruberova as Gretel, while Sir Georg Solti conducts the Vienna Philharmonic.

This release forms part of a series highlighting performances at the Metropolitan Opera, with Donozetti`s LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR rendered by Joan Sutherland, Alfredo Krauss, and their supporting cast.

Set in the years between 1965 and the late 1980s; Produced and released in 1991.Actor-director Robert Townsend came to fame depicting the pitfalls of the Hollywood experience for black actors with his 1987 film HOLLYWOOD SHUFFLE. Four years later, he took on the mid-'60s music scene with THE FIVE HEARTBEATS.
