Held on December 14th 2003, this unique Venetian musical event celebrated the grand reopening of the Teatro La Fenice, Italy's prized opera house that burned to the ground in 1996. Following through with his promise to rebuild the theatre in its original style, then-mayor of Venice Massimo Cacciari saw to it that the theatre was recreated in all its previous splendor.
For an audience including president of Italy Carlo Ciampi, Ricardo Muti (the musical director of another famous Italian opera house-La Scala) conducted several concerts in honor of the Teatro La Fenice's reopening. This program gathers some of Italy's foremost vocal talent, including sopranos Patrizia Ciofi and Sara Allegretta, Alto Sara Mingardo, and more.

Performed at the Palais Garnier by the OpUra National de Paris in July 2004, this staging of Philippe Taglioni's classic ballet stars leading ballerina AurUlie Dupont in the title role of Sylphide once played by Marie Taglione, the choreographer's daughter. This revival performance is actually a reconstruction of Pierre Lacotte's well-known 1972 version. In expressing Lacotte's (and Taglioni's) original choreography, Dupont and her male partner Mathieu Ganio recreate the style that defined the romantic ballet.
