The Candy Snatchers (DVD)
Long considered a classic--if a heartily gloomy one--in underground circles, Guerdon Trueblood`s `70s screamer was a defining force in the exploitation cinema of that era. A trio of petty criminals comprised of Jessie (Playboy Playmate and B-movie queen Tiffany Bolling, BONNIE`S KIDS), her brother Alan (Brad David), and hulking Army vet Eddy (Vincent Martorano), decides to execute a get-rich-quick scheme by kidnapping the daughter of a local diamond mogul. Innocent 16-year-old Candy (Susan Senett, BIG BAD MAMA) is walking home from Catholic school one day when the three capture her, take her deep into the hills of Southern California, and bury her alive with only an air pipe between her and her demise. But it turns out the girl`s father is really her stepfather, and couldn`t care less what fate befalls her. A difference of opinion regarding the gang`s next move gives rise to an ever-quickening spiral into depravity. Shot through with an atmosphere of maliciousness, this is an uncompromising descent into the dark side of existence akin to Wes Craven`s LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT.

Attack of the Crab Monsters (DVD)
Roger Corman directed this big-crab classic in which a crew of scientists investigates a nuclear fallout-stricken atoll in the Pacific. There isn't a sign of life on the island, but the researchers hear voices calling to them at night, and when they investigate they are promptly clawed and eaten. It seems these gigantic mutant crabs absorb the intelligence of their victims and can speak in their voices. Russell Johnson (the Professor from GILLIGAN'S ISLAND) is a demolition expert who manages to fall in love with betrothed biologist Martha Hunter (Pamela Duncan) before the crab business gets too critical, which isn't long. Mel Welles, Leslie Bradley, and Richard Garland costar as concerned scientists and future brain food. Corman works efficiently from an intelligent script by Charles B. Griffith, achieving a brisk pace that masks the low budget. Beach Dickerson and Ed Nelson are sailors who get eaten (they also operate the crabs for Corman, and in some scenes their legs are visible). This is a fun early example of the pick'em off one by one mode of horror storytelling that would later be adopted in such films as ALIEN and FRIDAY THE 13TH.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Additional Release Material: Trailer - 1.
