This two volume sets contains two slapstick comedies firmly rooted in the ridiculousness of everyday life, OFFICE SPACE (1999;R) and DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR (2000;PG-13).OFFICE SPACE (1999;R): Peter (Livingston) is an office drone who feels that every day of his life is the worst yet. After an incident involving a hypnotist, Peter stops caring about his job, ignoring his work and goofing off. When office consultants find out, they see his attitude as proof that Peter is management material. Director Judge (of BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD and KING OF THE HILL) makes a surprisingly intelligent, hysterical commentary on office life, and this memorable picture firmly establishes Judge as a voice to pay attention to.DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR (2000;PG-13): Jesse (Ashton Kutcher) and Chester (Seann William Scott) got really wasted last night. The fridge is packed with pudding, their girlfriends--The Twins--are ticked off, and somehow Jesse's car has disappeared. So the hapless stoners set out to find the car, which happens to have their girlfriends' anniversary presents in it. But they soon discover that losing the car isn't half the story. High school hottie Christie (Kristy Swanson) is mysteriously hot for Jesse, Chester is a favorite customer at the local topless club, and they owe a suitcase full of money to a transvestite stripper. On top of all that, they're being pursued by a minivan full of geeks, horny space babes, and a couple of totally gay Scandinavian dudes--all trying to find the continuum transfunctioner, the device that can save or destroy the universe. Duuude....DUDE's comic formula is pretty simple: throw the dudes in one bizarre situation after another and watch them goof their way out. Given the movie's PG-13 rating, it all lands on the lighter side of the teen-comedy spectrum, and if angry ostriches, donut-loving cops, a 50-foot bimbo in a miniskirt, and a pot-smoking dog sound like a good combo, DUDE has got a deal for you.

Credit is due in part to the writing team of Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel (SPANGLISH) who adapt Nick Hornby`s popular British novel, moving it to Boston and exchanging the protagonist`s obsession with soccer for an all-consuming love of baseball. Ever since his first childhood visit to Fenway Park, easygoing schoolteacher Ben (Jimmy Fallon) has been in love with the Boston Red Sox. When he meets a successful workaholic named Lindsey Meeks (Drew Barrymore), he warns her that his devotion to the Sox
has been a problem in his past relationships. On the brink of turning 30, Lindsey is eager to make what seems like an otherwise promising romance work, and she agrees to go with Ben to opening day (of the eventful 2004 season when the Red Sox won the World Series for the first time in 86 years).As baseball season proceeds, the truly obsessive nature of Ben`s passion is revealed, and a love triangle is set up in which baseball plays the role of the other woman. Lindsey`s feelings for Ben are put to the test again and again as his love for the game threatens to outweigh his feelings for her. While the film`s structure is pretty typical of a romantic comedy, FEVER PITCH offers quirky characters that ring true. Fallon and Barrymore display a genuine chemistry and Fallon proves (after leaving SNL) that he can pull off the romantic lead.
