BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM: Like most everyone else in England, Jess Bahmra (Parminder Nagra) idolizes professional British football player David Beckham. Ultimately, Jess has to decide whether to live life on her terms or act in accordance with her parents' wishes.DRUMLINE: Charles Stone III's crowd-pleasing drama spotlights the previously unheralded world of university marching bands--more specifically, the cutthroat world that energizes Southern black campuses. Devon Miles (Nick Cannon) is a Harlem teenager who receives a full scholarship to attend Atlanta A&T University based on his excellent percussion talents. However, making the transition from hip-hop street drumming to the drumline of the school's legendary marching band is more challenging than Miles expected. For one, the band director, Dr. Lee (Orlando Jones), is determined to reclaim the national championship using old-school tactics, even though his traditional beliefs appear to be leaving A&T in the dust. And then there is Sean (Leonard Roberts), the current drum leader, who is threatened by Devon's skills and frustrated by his fierce individuality. Seemingly anti-social Manny, a woolly mammoth (voiced by Ray Romano), acts as if he just wants to be left alone. When he meets Sid (voiced by John Leguizamo), a sloth, the two become unlikely traveling companions. The plot thickens when the duo finds a human infant and decides to try to return the child to its herd. Manny slowly but surely reveals his heart of gold, while Sid continues to provide comic relief. Diego (voiced by Denis Leary), a saber-tooth tiger with ulterior motives, soon joins them in their search for the humans. Ultimately, this group of misfits becomes its own herd, learning about friendship and loyalty as they brave snow, ice, freezing temperatures, predators, hail, and even boiling lava pits. All the while, a saber-tooth squirrel, Scat, provides comic relief as he valiantly struggles with an acorn. A well-written, humorous script and endearing characters mesh well with the state-of-the-art technology and effects. A collection of episodes featuring everyone's favorite fat cat, Garfield, this set is a cornucopia of lasagna, pie, and the endearing adventures that made this one of the longest-running Saturday morning cartoons. The show shared a slot with US ACRES, another cartoon drawn by Jim Davis, about the lives of a group of farm animals led by Orson Pig. The animals spend their days avoiding Orson's mean older brothers and getting in and out of trouble, much of which stems from the pranks of jokester Roy Rooster. All of the characters appear in this collection, which includes over 40 episodes. In The Legal Eagle, Orson lays down the law and appoints Roy as deputy; unfortunately the power goes to his head, and Roy begins to indiscriminately arrest everyone. Garfield is sick in Fill in Feline, so in his stead, the producer puts Nermal in the cartoon. The action is fraught with hilariously overt errors in Mistakes Will Happen, and Jon's uncle comes for a visit and stays far too long in The Thing that Stayed Forever. Finally, in An Egg Citing Story, Orson answers the question on everybody's mind when he tells the tale of the gang's introduction to Sheldon.

Jim Davis's popular comic took to the small screen in a big way with this long-running Saturday morning cartoon. Volume 4 contains all the episodes from Season 5, and was actually a combination of two shows. Garfield, Odie, and their cartoonist owner Jon, shared the bill with a lovable group of farm animals on U.S. ACRES, also based on a comic by Davis. In it, serious Orson Pig has adventures with friends such as the timid Wade Duck, Roy the practical-joking Rooster, and Sheldon, the baby chick who has yet to hatch. This volume contains such popular episodes as Renewed Terror, which finds Jon dogged by a persistent magazine salesperson; Picnic Panic, featuring a bevy of industrious ants and dialogue completely in song; and The Creature that Lived in the Refrigerator, where Jon's leftovers come to life!

Enigmatic author Lemony Snicket (Jude Law) recounts the adventures of the three children as they change hands from the conniving Olaf to the reptile-loving Uncle Monty (Billy Connolly) to Aunt Josephine (Meryl Steep), who lives in fear of just about everything.An adaptation that condenses the first three books in the series--THE BAD BEGINNING, THE REPTILE ROOM, and THE WIDE WINDOW--into one installment, the film captures the darkly humorous tone of the popular children's novels by Lemony Snicket (AKA Daniel Handler). Carrey clearly has fun with his intentionally over-the-top role as the villain, while the young actors embody their resourceful characters wonderfully. The true star of the film, however, may be the production design of Rick Heinrichs (SLEEPY HOLLOW), which creates a visually stunning world filled with gothic mansions and ramshackle houses. Part INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, part 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE marries mythology, cool futuristic underwater space crafts, and turn-of-the-century adventure for an animated treat. Thanks in part to cowriter Joss Whedon (creator of the edgy BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER series), the film is filled with relaxed wit and more grown-up, pseudo-supernatural perils than some recent Disney films, without being inappropriate for kids. This non-musical extravaganza pits Good against Evil, and pairs a nerdy young scientist-turned-explorer, Milo Thatch (Michael J. Fox), with an independent-minded blond bombshell of a princess, Kida (Cree Summer)--provided Kida's father, the distrusting king (Leonard Nimoy) approves. Milo, a museum curator relegated to menial jobs, is obsessed with the famed lost empire of Atlantis. His grandfather once told him about a mysterious Shepherd's Journal that could help him find the now-sunken kingdom and, with the help of eccentric millionaire Preston B. Whitmore (John Mahoney), Milo and several other funny, quirky crew members set out on a heart-pounding adventure. The crew includes Vinny, a demolitionist (Don Novello, better known as Father Guido Sarducci), Dr. Sweet, the gentle cook (Phil Morris, a.k.a. Kramer's lawyer on SEINFELD), and a paternal but brusque Captain Rourke (James Garner). The plot is intricate and suspenseful, and artist Mike Mignola (creator of the graphic comic book HELLBOY) offers up an intense but beautifully simple animated environment as stunning as Queen Amadala's planet in STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE. With monsters like the vicious Leviathan (a mechanical lobster that guards the gates to the city) adding thrills and chills, who could ask for more?
