Africa Calling Live 8 at Eden (DVD)
A series of concerts designed to coincide with the annual G8 Summit and to mark the 20th anniversary of Live Aid, Live 8 was held in nine cities around the globe on July 2nd, 2005. These locations included South Africa and all of the G8 nations, where over 1,000 musicians performed in the spirit of increasing awareness to issues facing impoverished nations. Some of the topics being stressed to the Summit leaders were debt relief, AIDS, the importance of fair trade, and an increase in U.S. aid to struggling countries. Put together by Peter Gabriel, this specific concert raised money for the Make Poverty History campaign by gathering some of Africa`s most renowned musical artists. Held in Cornwall, England, the event featured songs by Shikisha, Chartwell Duitro, Tinariwen, Daara J, Coco Mbassi, and Syiyaya among many others.
