Combining dry British wit with broad, French slapstick, THE COUNTERFEIT CONSTABLE (ALLEZ FRANCE!) was directed by French comedian Robert Dhery, who also stars in the film. Dhery plays Henri, a football fanatic who travels to London for an exciting game only a few days before he's due to be married . But in the ensuing chaos of the game, Henri gets caught up in a series of comic mishaps and misunderstandings that end up putting his upcoming marriage in jeopardy. THE COUNTERFEIT CONSTABLE combines physical comedy with visual gags that have a long tradition in French comedy.
