In 1985, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp organized the original Farm Aid, a benefit concert for the United States's beleaguered family farms that raised the public's awareness of the issue. Still going strong in 2001, this year's Farm Aid took on an added poignancy when its date fell on September 29, 2001, just 18 days after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This emotional concert features performances from The Doobie Brothers, Dave Matthews, Mr. Mellencamp, Mr. Nelson, and many others.
